Ruby was raised on old time Appalachian and Southern style music, which is beautifully reflected in this CD of sweet harmonies, banjo, guitar, fiddle and mandolin, with plenty of toe-tapping tunes and some pretty little ballads.
11 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Traditional Folk, COUNTRY: Bluegrass
Details:
Ruby loves to play the early American folk music of her heritage, as well as early blues music. For generations, the members of Ruby's large family have carried their musical heritage from the mountains of Appalachia to parts of Georgia and Oklahoma, then migrating during the dustbowl era to all parts of America. Ruby brings updated versions of the traditional music and sings them with a fresh, new voice that both young and old enjoy. This music, along with the early blues that Ruby sings portrays the interests of the poorer "folk" of America, as they describe their loves and losses and while also creating whimsical, light songs to counteract the hardships they experienced.
Ruby's childhood was filled with many evenings of large family gatherings where the tradition of stories told though song were enjoyed until late at night. Ruby shares this warm feeling with her audiences.
