Ruck City was born Nicholas Callorina in Berkeley California on January 1, 1981. Ruck spent the first part of his life in Richmond, California, and then moved on to Fairfield, California a.k.a. Klap City.
He grew up with all types of music ranging from Latin, Jazz, Funk, R&B and Rap. Music played all day everyday drowning out a difficult childhood and providing him with a safe and creative refuge. Singing and dancing at home when he was young, people who saw him perform even in his youth knew that he would someday be a star.
With no real fatherly influence, Ruck City found himself in the street life and headed for trouble. The hustle for money lured him away from school. The streets were now the only education Ruck City received.
The birth of his son at age 18 gave him the drive to give his son a better life than he had had. Watching his peers and role models going to prison or dying, he chose not to follow in their footsteps and turned to music once again for a way out. Looking up to Bay Area artists, such as E-40, Mac Dre, and Too Short, the pioneers of the independent rap game, Ruck City chose to take his hustle to the studio.
In the beginning he collaborated with friends from his youth. Afterward he moved on to become a solo artist. Lying about his age Ruck City hosted and performed as MC in clubs all over the Bay Area. With a gift of gab and the power to grab, he found his calling and has performed to enthusiast audiences across the country.
Ruck City possesses an obvious stage presence when performing in front of an audience, whether as MC or performing his music. Being raised by a strong Latina woman, Ruck City learned a womanâs worth. The streets and the ladies influenced his music which you will find in the up and coming album WITH ME OR AGAINST ME dedicated to the memory of his friend and brother Cody Comac.
Writing his own lyrics, Ruck City weaves a spell around you taking you to places youâve only thought of in your dreams. His sensuous story telling voice captures your imagination. Ruck City possesses talent evident in everything he does. So open your ears and minds for some real music.
