In August of 2006 work was completed on Red Ramâs Stars Ablaze, an innovative album that features a vast palette of sounds and ideas. Early singles from the album had been steadily garnering positive feedback from both industry insiders and music fans alike, but until now there were no Red Ram recordings available for sale. Stars Ablaze is a broad album full of cutting edge sounds, massive variation, skilled songwriting, and an appeal that is maintained from start to finish. The music has an infectious energy and many hooks and creative arrangements are to be found.
Red Ram has a bright future ahead. The band's sound is both new and old - mixing modern and vintage electronic sounds, melding trip-hop breaks with metal beats, and putting forward fresh ideas while maintaining a gritty rock and roll ethic. Some call it electro-grunge, but most feel that label is too limiting. One thing's for sure: Red Ram produces catchy tunes that smack of innovation and creativity.
Red Ram was begun as a duo project, featuring the songwriting of Mark Feduk and the production of Doug Organ, with most of the instruments on Stars Ablaze being tracked by one of these two talented musicians. More recently, in the summer of 2006, Red Ram was formed into a quartet of seasoned Canadian artists coming together to fully realize the groupâs innovative electronic-rock music. Bill George's phenomenal jazz chops, progressive-metal background, and his keen ear for cutting edge breaks and beats make him the perfect drummer for Red Ramâs medley of genres. Sean Brewerâs precise rhythm and lead guitar work, and rock-solid bass playing will round out Red Ram by adding his multi-instrumentalist talents to the group.
