My name is Rebekah Brooks. My parents tell me that I was singing songs before I could talk correctly. I remember writing songs as a child and you couldn't be in any club of mine without knowing the club theme song that I made up. (Which I now know was super cheesy lyrics!) I sang solos at church camps and Girl Scout outings, school programs and talent contests, Christmas pageants and Fourth of July programs all growing up wanting to be a star. (I even practiced how I would sign fan mail.) In High School I was the only person to be in every school musical and my Senior year I had the lead part. Through church I had great opportunities singing across the nation, and in Canada. I auditioned with 500 other people to sing in the Hoosier Dome in Indiana for (my greatest moment to date) and received the great honor to do it even though I was fighting nodules on my vocal chords and was told from my doctor at the time not to even speak. Since then it's been a lot of weddings and funerals, and sing-a-longs at the school where I work... but no matter where I am or if anyone can hear it... singing is my passion! It's almost like breathing... I'm so excited to take on this CD project, it has been a dream of mine for a long time. I thank Jack for taking the time to help me understand what all is involved and for having the patience to work around my crazy schedule. Anyway, I hate bios because they always make the person sound so conceded, but if you really knew me, you would know that is not the case. I would not have had the success I have had without God giving the gift. So when you listen to my songs, please know that He is the reason I sing and without Him I would be nothing!
