here it is... the result of 2 years of hard labour, some of the deepest inspirations we've ever felt, traveling to record on remote locations and mixing in a completely new studio. but hey, with an album title 'Surrender to the Unknown' you can expect just that, right...?!

we treasure these 13 new tracks of ours. we love them without limits and now want to share them with you. so if you like, you can have a listen to what we've done over the past 2 years.

really, this new CD STTU has it all: the soft tones, the rough edges, the ready for airing radiotracks, the dreamy soundscapes and all the way through some fascinating lyrics by EL.

and for those about to rock, yes there are quite a bit of guitars to be enjoyed. guitarsounds from authentic four/six/twelve strings babies through real amps and with tons of old 70s effects. indeed, the real stuff.

and do you like those modern percussion and drumgrooves? cool, they're here... in a way we felt would suit our rock orientated music. we invited a DJ from one of the most popular clubs in the area to add his bongo and conga grooves to some of our songs. we also worked with a drummer every song orientated band would dream of, and he happens to be one of our best friends.

about the songs... in fact you should have a listen now, but until then... Ease The Pain has a soothing feel, the titletrack Surrender To The Unknown is very intimate, It's The Soul That Grows can give you wings... while tracks like Be What I Am will get you singing and play your airguitar! and btw: there's also a beautiful heavy track featured on STTU that could easily hit the dancefloors, called: Can You Handle It To Be Happy.

hey, if you don't know us very well yet, here's some background info: awardwinning alt rock duo Red to Violet are singer EL Martens & guitarist Onno Lakeman. currently based in the Amsterdam area, the Netherlands... in previous bands they did 250+ gigs and recorded for various projects. in Red to Violet they have found what they've been looking for...

we played most instruments on this CD and invited friends on drums, percussion and some of the bv's. we did the production, while the mastering has been done by Anthony Casuccio for Xtreamaudio, NY, who mastered several Grammy nominated CDs and is also known for his recent mix work with Goo Goo Dolls' Robby Takac.
