TWIN CITIES - If you had to pick the star of a diverse new rock CD out of Minnesota simply called NEALE AND HABERMAN (Reissner Records), the hands-down favorite would be the guitar that drives the album's 13 songs that range from cool rock ballads to angry break up rants, melodic rockers about bittersweet father-daughter relationships, a punked-out southern rock rampage, psychedelic jams and milder country- and folk-rock tunes. There are even a couple songs inspired by an Anne Rice novel about witches ("Hispaniola") and the Lord of the Rings book and movie ("Victory Ride"). Leading the charge with a host of mighty axes is Dan Neale, one of Minnesota's Most Valuable Guitar Players (MVGP), with lyricist and singer-songwriter Rex Haberman., who by day is one of the area's leading Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctors, and a published novelist with two previous records for the Rex Haberman Band.
