Rebecca Hart has been in live theatre since before she could talk, and has been making music in public for the last decade or so. She is a graduate of Brown University's Theatre Department and a survivor of the Los Angeles independent music scene. She now makes her home in NYC, where she has completed her acting training at the Maggie Flanigan Studio and released her album, "Crash & Strum", produced by Benjy King. Her original one-woman rock-n-roll theatre piece, 'JAZZ DESERT: the life & death of an american band" was developed over three summers at the Culture Project/45 Bleecker Theatre . She tours regularly around the U.S. and in Ireland.

"Not exactly the coffeehouse folk of some female singer-songwriters, Rebecca Hart has some funky styles to showcase on the opening âThe Vibeâ, which brings to mind a cross between Michelle Shocked and Tracy Chapman. It's a rootsy pop feel that is quite decent...What is promising, though, is the slower, somewhat soulful âPlanetsâ that opens with talking about cars being named after planets. Hart likes her folksy moody pop, particularly on the sparse, murky title track, which evolves into a big, rousing, Etheridge-lite rocker. And itâs this little kickstart that makes the ensuing âWishing Hourâ gel much quicker. The sleeper pick has to be the mellow âLast Danceâ, which sounds like a cross between Jewel and k.d. lang. Another little nugget is the soft and dub-flavored âOut of Meâ that brings to mind Natalie Merchant.
