Great songwriting, crackling acoustic-electric instrumental work, an artfully produced country/blues/folk/jazz/bluegrass CD with terrific performances by Eyvind Kang, Danny Barnes, Pat Wright and other Seattle stalwarts.
10 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Country Blues, FOLK: Folk Blues
Details:
Jim Ragland has been a successful theater composer and sound designer since the 80s. His 100+ credits include everything from The Kentucky Cycle on Broadway to experimental projects, and major productions of plays by Shakespeare, Chekhov, August Wilson, Sam Shepard. He recently received the prestigious Greg Falls Award for Sustained Acheivement from Theater Puget Sound. Jim retired from the theater in 2003 to launch his singer/songwriter career, and his first CD, "When I Grow Up" is the result.
Jim called on some of the great musicians who have played on his theater scores to join him on this record, and produced it with his characteristic attention to detail and full rich blend of sounds. This is not minimalist or alt-something, it's the real thing.
Jim is also the guitar faculty at Seattle University, and produces other songwriters, including Patti-Anne Mathison (www.pamathison.com) and Ionesco (www.ionescoband.com)
