Details:
Now here captures the stage an exposing, yet light-hearted smile underneath magnetic and sincere eyes.........as there are eager ears in a room it is quite apparent that the vivid and well-formed voice all fit perfectly over an intricate, luxurious ballad.....
With Rashad Yarnell it is immediately obvious that he so effortlessly exudes a special brand of classic appeal through his words, music and especially in his natural phrasing - a talent for technique and feel that could never be constructed, conjured and certainly nay we say duplicated.
When Rashad sings that it feels like "Fire", we sweat and from his soul he digs deep when "It's Over" and we know he's never going back again. And the mature, mellow soul he eases into "After the Rain" returns the audience to this usual cool gregarious self.
We want to know from what soul? from where? how?
Born in Virginia, Rashad's musical understanding of the world began in the soul-drenched culture of the church where he was later raised in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The deep music and vivid meanings enveloped his soul and captured his mind and the passion of a people met a uniquely quick-witted and intellectual mind. He took these convictions away to study in the department of music at Greensboro's North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He never failed to bring down the house at a wedding, funeral or talent show with his varied, yet understandable meldoic variation and convincing passion.
However, even at the tender age of 3, Rashad encountered a sort of prophetic encouragement as he playfully pounded out notes on a piano after a service full of gospel veterans. His mother attempts to lead him away, but a musician from the show listnes closely as he hears Rashad's three year old ear make an uncanny and impossibly coindidental amount of sense against some of the exiting musicians' sounds. His family knew then that there was something musically intriguing about this curious young mind.
Evenly blend together the souldful stylings of the church, the intellect and curiosity of a seasoned artist and un-ending consistency and there stands on stage the magnetic eyes...the well-timed charisma...and of course the raw and dynamic voice... Rashad Yarnell......to be continued.....
