RDP is an artist with a sound like no other!
Coming of age in the 80's his first rap experience was in the early 90's in the form of Yo! MTV Raps and Run DMC via "Mary, Mary", "Walk This Way", "You Be Illin'" and the
all-time classic, "My Adidas". It wasn't until he was embarrassed by a fellow classmate that he decided to pick up the pen and pad and start scrypting.
"I was a bookworm in elementary school but I was a popular kid," said RDP. He continues, "Whenever a new girl hit the school me and a couple of other guys would holla. One day,
jealous I was getting the upper-hand, one of the guys decided to break me down in a freestyle rap. I was destroyed! The power he possessed over my mental state was
unbelievable - especially for an 11-years-old. That was the first and the last time I would be destroyed."
The following day, after scypting and rehearsing all night, RDP returned the favor - completely demolishing his adversary! Since that time, RDP has worked hard at perfecting his craft - listening to all styles of artists, developing vibes for all genres of music and never straying away from a cypher or competition. He believes competition strengthens both a person's skill sets and drive for excellence - especially in a loss.
'DA LONE GUNMAN' is RDP's first break into the mainstream. It features the fiery and highly melodic production of Neo of I.M.P.E.R.I.U.M. and RDP's grimy and bass-filled
West Coast/Southern-style production. And while the track title and the parental advisory warning may put it in the class of "gansta rap", 'DA LONE GUNMAN' is definitely not
your run of the mill CD.
'Murdah She Wrote' and title-track 'Da Lone Gunman' showcases Neo's production and RDP's lyrical forte', while "Firewater', 'Da Stalker Man', 'Switchez (On A Lo)' and the blazin' hot track, 'New Day Walker', showcases RDP's production savvy in conjunction with rounding out his lyrical arsenal - And he has yet to begin to reach his true potential!
