Details:
Ryan M Barnes was born November 18, 1976 in Fresno, CA. He grew up with breathing problems which was possible related to birth complications. Because of an inability to play outdoor sports, Ryan turned at a young age to solving puzzles and building Rube Goldberg machines before first picking up the violin at the age of 10. Finding something he could do with other kids, Ryan quickly embraced music as his release. Throughout school he studied music religiously, picking up any musical instrument he could get his hands on and delving deep into music theory. Along with the violin, he studied and performed saxaphone, percussion, jazz piano, choir, and a variety of ancient Celtic instruments. Ryan graduated as a sophomore from Buchanan High School in Clovis, CA ready to move on and begin college to become a music minister in the fashion of Doug Holck, whom he admired greatly. An unstable home life led to circumstances that kept Ryan from going away to the university he had been accepted to, and still being a minor, was forced to still live at home. He then took an unexpected turn an graduated from college with a degree in English Literature, which would later help augment his music. During college, Ryan formed the band Silvertooth, beginning as a "Christian band" and ending as a Canadian folk rock band. The band only "officially" released demos, but was widely known in Fresno and parts of Southern California. Silvertooth was a mix of bluesy-rock and folk, injected with comedy, best known for their cover of The Arrogant Wormssong, The Last Saskatchuan Pirate. While not surfing or playing with the band, Ryan has worked on many music-related projects, including writing and choreography for a Stomp like routine for a high school drama troupe, writing music for the puppet troupe Puppettown, scoring soundtracks for small independant films, and releasing 2 independant CDs: Changing of the Seasons, an all piano cd, and And Apples for Dessert, a variety CD including all of the instruments Ryan has learned to play over the years as well as electronic patches. Ryan moved to Georgia in 2006 after falling in love with it while there in the army. He is now doing an Atlanta tour through coffee shops and taverns, working on his upcoming CD Never Lived in LA Ryan's currant events and working on plans to open an espresso bar that focuses on giving starting musicians a chance to play in front of a crowd.
