16 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Smooth Jazz, URBAN/R&B: Rhythm & Blues
Details:
Art of Bass is the debut release of session musician, producer, multi-instrumentalist and Bass Artist Robin D. Rorie. This album is for contemporary jazz lovers and technical minded musicians as well. Set for release in 2007, this album was completed ahead of schedule in 2006 and includes a roster of other talented musicians such as virtuoso jazz guitarist Bill Solley (Guitar Instructor for the movie âRayâ starring Jamie Foxx), rock legend and guitarist David Huff (from the famous David and the Giants), New Orleans percussionist Dennis âShakeâ Shaikewitz (from NOCCA, Ellis Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis) drummer Jathan Maricelli, vocalist Michelle Jenkins and a host of other veteran musicians.
This album covers the spectrum of easy listening jazz, R&B, funk, reworked hymns and includes bonus tracks 12-16 of some of Robin Rorieâs other production work, from various albums/film soundtracks of the past. Track number one is a radio friendly smooth jazz/R&B feast that features jazz guitarist Bill Solley. Track 3 is a refreshing and funky spin on the Christmas Classic, âSilent Nightâ, âThe First Noelâ and âLittle Drummer Boy.â Of special interest is track 10 âLouis and Theloniousâ which begins with a tribute to Louis Armstrong âDo You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleansâ and then segues into a funk slap bass solo titled âKatrinaâ which was written by Robin Rorie on the road while evacuating from the hurricane. Finally the bass solo closes with âRound Midnightâ a tribute to Thelonious Monk. Listeners will love track number eleven, which is an intimate setting with Robin telling the stories behind all of the songs on the album and speaking of his influences and inspirations.
Robin Rorie is currently producing six albums for other artists on the Legacy Music record label and is working with Louisiana Music Legend Bernie Cyrus on his upcoming Blues Album. Bass lovers and Louisana music fans can also visit Numerical Sounds website and check out âThe Delta Groovesâ New Orleans Bass and Drum Loops produced by Robin D. Rorie and featuring New Orleans NOCCA graduate, percussionist and drummer Dennis Shaikewitz.
