Details:
SOME FACTS ABOUT... ROBERT CHERRY Robert Cherry lives in Cleveland, Ohio, by the shores of Great Lake Erie, under heavy cloud cover. On his forthcoming solo debut, "The New Forever," Cherry crafts downcast romantic pop with touches of glam-psychedelia. His lyrics tackle that most antithetical of rock and roll themes--trying to hold on to what's good in life while letting go of illusions. The album was initially titled "Love Songs For The Apocalypse," but those equally sensitive souls in the Plasmatics had already beaten him to it. Smart people who enjoy David Bowie, George Harrison, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Verve and even Roy Orbison might "dig" The New Forever. Cherry's mom certainly does. The album was recorded by Don Depew at Cleveland's 609 Recordings. New York abstract artist Eric Freeman generously provided the cover painting (see his work at www.maryboonegallery.com). As singer-guitarist for Ether Net, Cherry released four albums of shape-shifting rock, including "The Requisite Chemicals" and "More Strange Bruises." "A group on the cusp of greatness," wrote one extremely perceptive writer at "Columbus Alive." Over the course of its ten-year history, the band shared stages with acts such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Idlewild, Hot Hot Heat and Placebo. They also drank a lot of good beer in endearing shitholes across the U.S. and Canada. Despite what Cherry has learned about the music industry over the years, he's still passionate about music.
