Romansongs is the songwriting/recording project of Ohio native Roman Horodysky.
'Calle Peligrosa' is Romansongs' maiden venture, featuring current and past members of Cobra Verde, Pere Ubu, Breaker, The Tellers, and Louberace.
A love of 60's and 70's rock(Stones, Stooges, Zappa, Elvis, Doors, Bowie), 60's and 70's country(George Jones, Charlie Rich, Johnny Cash), 1970's and 1980's punk/alternative(Pere Ubu, Death of Samantha, Iggy Pop, The Leather Nun, Plain White Toast), Jazz(Tony Williams, Max Roach, Jaco, Sun Ra, Miles, Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Mahavishnu), Ennio Morricone film scores, Bluegrass, the great outdoors, and silence has filtered thru the Romansongs funnel, creating what is featured here at CDBABY. Charlie Rich is Roman's favorite.
Roman is also interested in movies/actors.
Russ Myers, Federico Fellini, Sergio Leone, Orson Welles are directing geniouses. Highly esteemed actors include Orson Welles, Clint Eastwood, Joan Crawford, Geoffrey Lewis, Tura Satana, Betty Davis, James Coburn, W.C. Fields, Claudia Cardenale, Frank Gorshin, and Evil Kneivel. Evil is not an actor, per se, but maybe the greatest entertainer-definately the toughest.
"I became acquainted with Frank Gorshin, the Riddler, during his two week run in Cleveland, Ohio, in 'Goodnight Gracie'", claims Roman. "A real gentleman, with a keen wit. We'll really miss that mischeivous grin, that was never hiding too far beneath that genuine surface." Goodnight Frank.
