Details:
Roisin (pronounced Ro-sheen) was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1981. At the age of eight she took up the guitar with her brother, and started off singing at weddings, receptions and local concerts. Several years later Roisin continued by teaching herself to play guitar, and sang for 7 years in a choir. After a couple of solo performances, she branched out as a solo artist. In 2000 she wrote her first original inspired by a personal tragedy, and has since been composing her own material. She sings at festivals and concerts, as well as for friends at private functions.
Roisinâs self-titled album is a compilation of six original tracks, which feature her on vocals and guitar, and the keyboard skills of her friend Duncan. The tracks include two acoustic songs, âOrbitâ and âStars & Moon.â Her favourite track on the CD is âErase You,â which she says is about âwanting someone you canât have, and wishing that somehow you could just erase their memory from your mind.â Roisin says that âSoar,â means a lot to her because âIt was written in early 2006 for a friend who is trying to make it in the acting profession, and I just wanted to tell her I know what she is going through. I am so proud of her for dreaming big and following her own star.â Roisin often composes songs for her friends, such as âOrbit.â It was written for an old friend who experienced a life-changing situation, and although she did not know the people involved, it affected Roisin so greatly that she had to tell it in a song.
When she is away from her singing, playing and songwriting, Roisin is a long-distance athlete, who dreams of one day representing her country. She also enjoys a wide ride of outdoor activities such as mountain-bike riding, rock climbing, hiking, rollerblading, swimming and horse riding.
