Songs in the spirit of folk-rock, but with a "global-warming, green-activism" edge. And a bit of opera.
12 MP3 Songs
POP: Quirky, FOLK: Political
Details:
"...He mesmerized the audience, everyone's eyes transfixed on stage, holding their breath..." -Cherelle Jardine, Pacific Songwriters Association
"(Rogr's) music is incredibly sensual with that edge I like. ..I have to say that the production values on Rogr's CDs are nothing short of incredibly innovative. ..His CD's are an aural journey not to be missed." -Stephen Emery, RadioGay.ca
"Lee is a strong player, and I imagine that he's invested great time into his performance..." -Michael A. Johnson, Storefront Paper, Toronto
"Some fine melodies and downright invigorating lyrics!" -Ottawa XPress
"Indie Artist of the Week" -CBC's Definitely Not the Opera, August 20-27, 2004
"It's refreshing to see and hear artists wearing their hearts and politics on their sleeves.. (Rogr) uses his talent for roots-folk rockin' to ease his mind and, perhaps raise a few eyebrows, and get a few brains moving." -Kate Milberry, Vancouver Satellite
"(Rogr's 1995 debut CD is) a beautifully-produced, technically near-perfect, thoughtfully-written, musically clean and competent folk-roots album" -Heather Kelly T.O. Nite, Toronto
Rogr Lee began in the Toronto live circuit that brought us Ron Sexsmith, Hawksley Workman and Bob Wiseman. He is a prize-winning songwriter who has recorded and performed for over a decade, both solo and as a band-member. From an early age Rogr was musically, spiritually and "alternatively"-inclined. Now, in his prime (at the crux of our times(!), there emerges a new album, "Sexing Up th' Case for War", entirely self-produced, and artfully addressing topics like global warming and consumerism. Using acoustic and contemporary soundscapes, imaginative arrangements and poetics, Rogr's current work remains compelling and true.
