Details:
Massive Ego the UK electro-pop band formed in 1996 with original band members Marc Massive and Andy JT. Over the years there have been several line-up changes for the band however the consistent factor in the band is front man Marc Massive. Who over the last decade has modelled for Dolce and Gabbana, Paul Smith, appeared in various pop videos for the likes of Elton John, Take That, Holly Johnson, advertising campaigns for Levis and Nikos with model agency Storm & So Dam Tuff, to name but a few. He also spent time working as a dancer for Boy George and his project "Jesus Loves You" and MC Kinky of "Everything starts with an E" fame, giving him a taste of things to come.
The band has participated in both UK & European club tours including Heaven, The Fridge, Sound, Ghetto, Flamingo's & NG1 to name just a few, and annual performances at the biggest Pride events including top billing at Manchester Mardi Gras, Euro Pride, Brighton Pride, Summer Rites, Big Gay Out, and Pride London in 2010 in Trafalgar Square in front of 10,000 people. Massive Ego supported Sigue Sigue Sputnik on tour, performed at Steve Strange's (Visage) book launch in London and appeared on TV showâs such as The Salon on Channel 5, and Celebrity Big Brotherâs Little Brother for Channel 4.
Massive Ego has had its fair share of line-up changes over the years most notably of these is Dan Black who brought live guitar to the sound of Massive Ego early on in the band's career and who was voted one of Radio 1's 'top new names to watch out for' in 2009. The current line-up is front man Marc Massive and on keyboards Olly Frost alongside British tabloid favourite Collagen Girl.
Massive Ego has seen UK single releases on Academy Street Records, Klone Records and Pop One, and releases in Japan on Avex Trax, and Australia's Pro-DJ label and recently ZYX Records in Germany. Massive Ego has proved their endurance through the relentless, ever changing climate of the music industry and are constantly experimenting with new looks and sounds. Perhaps these are just a couple of reasons why their loyal fan base just carries on growing.
Other highlights included a re-working of the Adventures hit "Broken Land" which featured vocalist MC Kinky, and another duet recording with top London DJ Dusty O, a cover of the Dead Or Alive classic "My Heart Goes Bang" which was also released as a single. A promo video for the bandâs single Planet Earth was shot in 2004 and was released in the USA on two DVD music compilations CLUB VISION and CLUB VIDEO followed by the bandâs videos for âSupernatureâ and their rendition of Depeche Mode's 'Master and Servant' which also caused a stir when it was screened in clubs/barâs & shopping malls across America due to the bandâs âout thereâ style.
Marc & Olly also curate and promote the highly successful Annual London art/club night ACT ART which features over 100 artists from the world of film, performance, live art, sculpture & photography attracting capacity crowds and live appearances from the likes of Billie Ray Martin, Pete Burns & Andy Bell.
Klone Records in the UK decided it was time for an official album release, featuring many previously un-released original tracks, the band set to work compiling the album called 'Nite Klub Skewl'. This enhanced CD featuring the two previous videos for 'Planet Earth' & 'Supernature' was un-leashed upon the world on Monday 29th January 2007.
Massive Ego moved into new territories in 2010 licensing the âNite Klub Skewlâ album to German label ZYX Records, who re-packaged and re-named the album âMaster & Servantâ, adding 3 new tracks including âI Like Boysâ, âHallo SpaceBoyâ and âSex Driveâ. The album was followed by a brand new digital single âSex Driveâ featuring mixes from KlubKidz/Andromeda Rising/ Sweet Team & Almighty Records.
Early 2011 saw Marc Massive record a duet with legendary 80's 'hairum scareum posse' Sigue Sigue Sputnik and their freaky frontman Martin Degville. However due to artistic differences and an un-workable gulf between the two lead singers the project and it's video and remixes from the likes of London dub DJ's RadioKillaz, Rinaldo Montezz, Sappy, EMP and Lloyd Price was pulled prior to release and shelved. However the mixes found themselves being leaked shortly after.
2011 sees the band record âI Idolize Youâ marking a new direction musically with a much darker electronic sound and released digitally by brand new label Public Disordar Records and a limited edition physical CD release via their website and the band plan to tour in support of this release.

âfreak uniqueâ band Massive Ego whose underground art-band performances have galvanized a freak-army fan base might provide a clue. With outrageous costuming, make-up and a spoonful of attitude itâs hard not to admire balls being worn on the outside"
DJ Puss Puss- San Francisco Bay Times.
"Marc Massive's ever evolving line-up of freaks has changed a lot over the years but the quality of the music has never altered. If you like your pop with an electro/NRG edge and with big, quality, man vocals then maybe you should check out Massive Ego''
