1. 'Birds of the State Fair' - Don't be fooled by the old-school Casio-inspired Bossa nova open. The title track is a lush and driving piece featuring piano, urpright bass and Wurlitzer organ.

2. 'Persistence' - A pensive piano trio with modern percussion that features rich harmonies and a patient progression.

3. 'Distraction' - Latin rhythms, piano and upright bass supported by a Wurlitzer organ and modern percussion flank an interlude that is one of the highlights of the album.

4. 'Machines Come In, Men Go Out' - No piece better exemplifies the organic/synthetic blend of the album than this one. Piano, upright bass, and lots of electronic sounds. A fun piece.

5. 'Song for Test Unit 01' - Jazz/downtempo fusion. Has a sentimental feel and combines electronic elements with strings, upright bass and electric piano.

6. 'Your Blown Future' - This song moves even more into electronic downtempo/trip-hop music, but the electric piano shows that the roots stay close to jazz. Lushly scored with strings.

7. 'Electric Funk Break for Addy' - After the two preceding songs, this song moves the album towards funk. Should have you strutting around.

8. 'The Switch' - Opens with a funky clavinet solo (think "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder) and then has a funk-gospel feel.

9. 'I Did What You Asked Me To' - A jazz/funk song that will make you want to wear heavy boots and stomp along. Builds rhythmically during the course of the song.

10. 'Back Alley' - An older school funk sound with guitar riffs, 3 different organs/electric pianos and a funky bass line.

11. 'Now This Is Happening' - More funk! This song ends the album with great horn lines and a funky but chill tune. Features a wah-wah'ed out lead line and a thermin solo (at about 3:24).
