Details:
The "Broken Songs" were recorded on fire damaged recording equipment in Sherman Underwood's burnt out home after the second fire gutted it for good. The acoustics in the smoldering space somehow impart a mood to the album that's like the smell of charred wood.

All these tunes are busted up to some degree and none are quite finished. They're really more like song sketches of a life caught on fire and burning quickly.

Bob Dylan heard the tunes and said "These ought'a come with a glass of ice water." This is Sherman Underwood's songwriting at it's best. These sad sweet tunes of heartbreak might be too much all in one listening but among them are gems you only get when harvesting a heartbreak.
