Folky-Power-Pop. Virulently catchy tunes, witty lyrics, social commentary and earnest love songs
all tempered with a touch of optimism.
11 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Power-folk, ROCK: Roots Rock
Details:
Rob Slater wrote his first song lyrics in grade school, his first songs at 14. One of which, Tonight (I Don't Need You), you can sample here. Since then he's written about 70 more and forgotten the music (Thankfully in most cases) to at least half of them.
Rob is a musician/teacher/writer living in Bellingham, Washington with his wife, Tonja, a Nursing Home Administrator. His stories and poetry have appeared in Story House, Continuum, SBD, Millennium, Jackhammer, Goblin Muse, and Martian Wave. He has a should've-been-a doctorate B.A. in Theatre/Education, Spanish and History minors and a M.A. in Educational Technology. He plays guitar, brews beer and mead, cooks, reads, practices Taekwon Do, writes songs, sings. He has six children, 2 to 21 years. He has adopted Robert A. Heinlein's "Specialization is for Insects" as his motto.
"Some of the Parts" is 4 full-pro 16-track recordings and 7 "basement tape" 4-track recordings. These are about a third of Rob's recordings over the last decade. Proceeds from this CD will send Rob back into the studio to produce a full CD of all-pro recordings.
Personnel on "Some of the Parts" are:
Rob Slater - Vocals, Guitar, all tracks
Tonja Myers - Vocals on Tracks 1-4
Brian Lenius - Guitar, Bass on Tracks 5-10

Brian Smith - Bass on Tracks 1-4
Duke Harner - Drums on Tracks 1-4
