Details:
This collection of Swing Era music contains some of the outstanding big hits of the time. The Glenn Miller version of his biggest hit, "In the Mood," is based on a very old jazz riff which was used in a Fletcher Henderson tune, entitled "Hot and Anxious. "In the Mood" is noted for its simplicity and strength.

Of course, "Stardust," the Artie Shaw version, was written by Hoagy Carmichael in 1927. It is the nation's most durable hit, which was arranged by Lennie Hayton, and is filled with tenderness, pathos, rapture and sheer beauty of sound. "Stardust" became one of the largest selling instrumentals ever made and is particularly memorable for its trumpet and trombone choruses and the lovely, dipping, soaring clarinet solo.
