My music is heavily influenced by my lifestyle and environment growing up. I had a very unstable childhood, my parents divorcing when I was 3 and moving from house to house, state to state, switching schools several times before we ended up on Strong Island, New York. My brother and I were always in martial arts growing up, and it was always us versus the neighborhood because we were the new kids wherever we went. I got expelled from two schools, and eventually got sent away to a "behavioral modification" (child torture) facility on the Island of Jamaica called Tranquility Bay (Thats a story for another day), where I learned to beatbox by listening and watching other "students"- Tranquility Bay, Jamaica is now shut down due to child torture. (My parents didn't really know what they were sending me to)- Shuffled back into society as a rebellious teen with a sharp mind I earned a reputation through fighting, and ended up in the freestyle circles and met people who had lives similar to mine, who I could relate to. I never saw color of skin, just character and soul; my network of friends has never had any sort of social boundaries. I ended up linking with another producer (Emp3) who lived down the street from me, in an apartment complex called Stone Waters that I lived in for a few years when I was younger- We started talking music and business, and I started buying equipment. We set up our first "recording studio" in my bedroom, with the mic stand next to my dresser wedged in between the little computer desk I was using- Emp3 had begun school in audio, but ended up getting expelled over some bullsh** so when we first got protools up and running and he said "I think you click here" I just kind of stared at him like... "I thought u said u knew how to use this..." and we ended up training ourselves in audio.
About 2 years down the line, our mixes started to sound really good, our production skills were getting better, and we upgraded to a new studio in my garage, where we built an official vocal booth complete with glass and soundproofing, got a decent microphone and a better computer, and continued making music on a higher caliber. But good things sometimes don't last forever. We ended up having disagreements over various topics, and some harsh words were exchanged, and I bid farewell to my associates at the time.
Not long after, a wise friend of mine who happens to be a very skilled lyricist came to me in the down and outs, and I gave my all to helping him get back on his feet. Every now and then, our pendulum of events swings into the darkness, but this is what allows us to appreciate when it swings into the light. Sha Boogz ended up becoming my closest friend and business partner, and together, we incorporated LIFE Inc. (Live In Freedom Entertainment, under Live In Freedom Enterprises Inc.) Our studio and skills have grown to the point where we have to share it with the world, and this has become my mission in life.
