It was a long and winding road through a lifetime of incessant failure in job after job, occupation after occupation that led Robert Beau Michaels to his musical passionâbut ironically a creative passion that he strangely avoided for most of his life. Armed with a BA degree in film from the University of Georgia he struggled as an aspiring screenwriter in Hollywood during the 80âs and early 90âs. But the Hollywood doors would not open for him. Frustrated with his inability to get his screenplays produced (heâs written seven), he left LA in the mid 90âs and spent the next ten years trying to sort through the ego-baggage/fictions of his own distraught and disillusioned mind.

But it was long periods of solitude and meditation that began to work its magic to release the music that was buried deep within his soul. In fact, he claims that he spent many sleepless nights as the music of the cosmos streamed into his heart and soul during his sleep. But he evaded the musical calling for several more years because he considered himself to be first and foremost, a writer. So he returned to school to get a Masterâs Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas with the hope of publishing two non-fiction books that he had been working for almost ten years. But the publishing doors wouldnât open either. Rejection slips piled up through the years, and he became ever more discouraged and disillusioned as his creative passion found no acceptance in the marketplace.

Down and out, depressed, disillusioned, and unable nor even desiring to hold on to a job for any length of time, he hit the psychological bottom of his life. It was then that he realized that he had spent his entire life avoiding the very thing that he loved the mostâmusic. So he sold his car and invested the money from the sale in musical equipment. Within a matter of months, it soon became clear to him that his childhood love of music was now ready to burst free, and now the musical technology was available that would enable him to unleash the power of his creative musical vision.

Although his music is in the New Age category, his sound has intensely romantic undertones with strong orchestral harmonies. Quite simply, his musical passion is to create beautiful music that takes us to those heights of celestial bliss. In fact, he claims that his debut album, Angel Fire: Music for Lovers was inspired by heavenly angelic voices and melodies that he would hear during his sleep. But he regrets that the album is a faint echo of the beauty of the music that he heard in his dreams.
The Hindu doctrine, Nada Brahma: the World is Sound underlies his musical philosophy, for Sound is the very creative structure of the universe. He hopes that his music is a small way of connecting to the mystery of it all. . .
He currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
