FOLK: Modern Folk, EASY LISTENING: Cabaret
Details:
It's Me! is "really enjoyable...[a blend of] Warren Zevon, Dan Hicks and Rob Wasserman."
-David Mitson, Sony Music
"If I were making a movie, I'd have Ritt write a song for it...but I'm writing a book."
-Carl Reiner
On his debut CD, Ritt Henn careens through life, love and the pursuit of happiness, serving up witty ditties chock-full of clever lyrics, catchy melodies and infectious, bass-driven grooves. A seasoned veteran of the LA club scene, Ritt continues to grow and mature as a writer and performer, honing his unique blend of pith and mirth, proving that intelligence and fun can peacefully co-exist.
Highlights from the disc include: "Chicks Dig Me 'Cuz I Bowl" (heard nationally on The Dr. Demento Radio Show); the award-winning ode to being overwhelmed, "Maintenance;" "Away-O," a touching tribute inspired by his last visit with his grandpop; & a reggae version of "Sunshine on My Shoulders" that Mike Kelsey of WFHB-FM in Bloomington, Indiana, says "just may be the world's greatest John Denver cover."
Ritt's opened for Soupy Sales, been an alien bassoonist on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," played "Stand By Me" with Ben E. King at a used auto parts convention in Las Vegas, and produced and starred in over 140 episodes of the public access TV series, "A Man, a Bass & a Box of Stuff," which airs in Los Angeles and New York, as well as on the web at www.ritthenn.com/tv.html.
It all makes for a most eclectic, well-rounded foundation in playing, performing and flat-out entertaining. Ritt Henn is a refreshingly original and joyful force - there's no one else like him.
"Very original music...it's just nice to see the bass being used in a new and different way."
- Harvie Swartz, recording artist ("Love Notes from the Bass")
"[Ritt's] songs betray a kind of whimsy. They're clever both lyrically and musically, and that's something that's always in short supply."
- Los Angeles Times
While you're here, be sure to check out his latest CD, "Goin' Back." There's a link to it at the bottom of this page.
