Unique world/fusion sound featuring bandura harp and synthesizer. Ranges from the hauntingly beautiful to "gotta dance now.".
11 MP3 Songs
NEW AGE: Celtic New Age, WORLD: Eastern European
Details:
Call of the Heart is a collection of original and traditional tunes arranged for the harplike bandura with Peter Ostroushko adding mandolin , Todd Syring on guitar and synthesizer, and Andreas Senah on cello. The sound is dreamy, light and relaxing with a spritely tune here and there and two heavier dramatic pieces (Legends and Steppes).
Easily beckons repetitive listening.
Legends depicts the life of the freedom loving Ukrainian kozaks. Prairie Storm is an adaptation of Kytasty's Sounds of the Steppes. The whimsical Rainplay and the more robust Dragondance and Snowdance harken back to the days of community dances and all the rowdiness, merrimaking, and laughter of days gone by.
The bandura harp is a 55 string plucked instrument from Ukraine. It and its players (kobzari) were persecuted and executed by various regimes as a threat to their attempts to subjugate the Ukrainian people.
Tatiana Riabokin has performed and taught the art and history of the bandura throughout the US and Canada since the 1960s.
Thanks to all of my friends for making this CD a reality.
Call of the Heart is dedicated to our Aldebaran. May you always watch over us from the heavens...(Thanks for the heart cloud on 2/14...)
