Richie the Rishi Kindler has been writing and performing music for as long as he can remember. His performances are marked with a sincerity and originality often lacking in todays music world. Thoughtful and soulful, his songs are tinged with the melancholy of a world on the brink of destruction, and envision the new world of peace and wonder as well. Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, the Rishi adds interest to his set by performing on mandolin, sitar and djembe, as well as guitar, while singing his songs or reading poetry. Richie stands by the philosophy that music is the highest form of earthly love and part of the path of the peaceful warrior.

Deus Ex Machina, a brave endeavor and experiment in the musicalities of world and psychedelic rock, merges eastern and western sensibilities to create rhythmic and flowing compositions. Produced alone in a basement studio at his mother's house in the countryside, Richie found the serene outdoor landscape was the inspiration for much of the music, and the rememberance of conflicts in his own personal life as well as those of the world at large were the guiding forces which shaped its lyrics. Idyllic and masterful, the poetry reads like a dark day in some Ginsbergian hell-bardo. Flashes of blinding trancendent joy interlaced with tremendous sorrow at the pain of living create stark contrasts in imagery, and give Deus Ex Machina a worldliness and horror as well as an otherworldy vision.
