Details:
An audience member came up to Ruth after her set at the Bluebird Cafe last year and shyly asked for her card.
"I want to invite you to my wedding," she said.
Flattered, Ruth asked if her fiance was at the club too.
"No, I don't have a boyfriend yet," she replied,"but when I >DO< get married, I want YOU to be there because you and your songs just radiate so much love."

(Enthusiastic fans like that "make me feel like I'm 5' tall!" Ruth--who's 4'11"--laughs...but she does sing in a warm soulful voice people seem surprised emerges from little her. An otherwise-bright A&R man, meeting Ruth after hearing her first demo said, "You're white?!" "Pink, actually," she joked.)

There's no need for Singer-Songwriter Ruth Greenwood to apologize for her debut CD, "I Won't Apologize." One of the best songwriters on the music scene today, Ruth Greenwood makes an exceptionally strong debut with her CD "I Won't Apologize." With gripping, well-crafted lyrics and music, beautiful guitar and mandolin work along with Ruth's natural, raw and emotional vocals - every song on this CD sizzles. Greenwood deals with all facets of love in her CD, from losing love in "Wish I'd Known" and "Indian Summer" to unrequited love in "I Won't Apologize" and "What Is," to the joys and passion of love in "Hot" and "One." A wife and mother, Ruth also deals with family life in songs such as "Family Circus" and the lack of love in one of my favorite songs on the CD, called, "Debt." (From a review by Cindy Gordon)

A QUICK BIT O' BIO
Ruth's first song on her first demo (made a few months after finishing college) was recorded on RCA by Gail Wynters. On hearing those first demos--with Ruth singing--the late John Hammond, Sr. wrote, "Excellent writer, good singer." That box with its handwritten note gets a place of honor in Ruth's studio.
Other songs were recorded by Engelbert Humperdinck, FAME TV show and second cast album (reaching #1-3 in Europe), Gary Portnoy ("Cheers" cowriter). In Nashville, Ralph Murphy produced Saundra Steele's recording of Ruth's "Better than Ever", written with Jack Perricone. (KT Oslin recorded it as well). Ruth and Jack also wrote an album for Sesame Street Records.
Ruth took a decade-long break from the music business to concentrate on her family, but returned to it in earnest after placing 4 songs out of the top 15 in a Nashville song contest, and was a finalist in the USA and Songsearch contests.
After her first Writers' Night at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe, she was invited to play in the round with Tony Arata ("The Dance" by Garth Brooks) last year, at the Belcourt Theatre in the round with Angela Kaset, Gerald Smith, Ken Mellons and Rachel Williams
She has also been an invited performer at Nashville's Commodore, Broken Spoke, Hall of Fame, Cocktails and the French Quarter, as well as WDVR's Heartland Hayride live radio broadcast. Various cuts from Ruth's new CD has are receiving airplay/streaming on WMVY-FM, Martha's Vineyard, MA (song, "Name for This"; KAOS-FM, Olympia WA; WDIY-FM, Lehigh Valley PA("Wish I'd Known" and "I Won't Apologize"); and Shonan Beach FM (Japan) ("Name for This" will be the featured song for May); WCVF 88.9 FM in FREDONIA NY (and over 35 international stations - song "What Is"), and others. Ruth will be performing live at the Commodore, at the Bluebird Cafe, and in the "Chicks with Picks" series in Nashville and soon in New York City, at the Bitter End.
