Details:
Ducratics is a California based group that play power pop songs with melodies that stick in your head. Ducratics was formed in the summer of 2005 when Kurt Ducratic wanted to incorporate his mish mash of acoustic songs with a rock band sound. He toook a simple path to create a Ducratics by recruiting veteran drummer and neighbor Dave F. Augno and bassist Matt Riley, who's played with Burn among other Santa Cruz bands.
The result of multiple garage rehearsals made for Ducratics first gig at Cafe Rouge in Novemeber, 2005. "It was a blast, and the crowd enjoyed it," was the collective sentiment of the band. In May, 2006 Kurt enlisted the help of producer Scott Tusa who's worked with Scissors for Lefty, Matt Lutz of the Herms and other great Bay Area bands. "Scott helped us gain song dynamics that were missing in our live performance," said Kurt. During recording in Take Root Studios, San Francisco Ducratics were encouraged by visiting members of other bay area bands that heard their songs.
Their efforts in the studio is a four song EP titled, "Waiting Under the Sun". The song "Mr. Edison" relates the story of persevering in the wake of non-believers. The song structure is pop, yet with underpinnings of something heavier. "Someone to Blame" is raw rock attitude with melody and it's that combination that makes Ducratics listen-able and exciting. It brings to mind the elements that make Weezer, or the Pixies pleasurable to listen to. Ducratics now have their first recording under their belt and will undoubtedly continue down their path to enlighten the masses and "shine the light". - November 2006 M.K. Wong
