Details:
WHAT, you may ask, do the Dead Beetles sound like?

Well, imagine if John Lennon and George Harrison descended from Rock ânâ Roll Heaven. Then imagine, if you will, that they assembled an all-star band to play at their Labor Day Party in the Hamptons, calling on Spinal Tap, Steely Dan, Was Not Was, Doc Watson, NRBQ, Tenacious D, Beck, The Mothers Of Invention, and Jellyfish. Now, imagine Walter Becker losing $34k to Nigel Tufnel, playing poker on the tour bus.

Ok, now stop imagining all that stuff and instead, imagine Portlandâs John Reynolds (guitar, vocals) and George Turner (bass, cello, vocals) frolicking with you and all your loved ones in a pristine, sunlit meadow.

THIS is the sound of THE DEAD BEETLES!

So geezâ¦what are you waiting for? Go buy our CDs and come to our super fun shows!

BIO:

The Dead Beetles have been performing regularly in the Portland, Oregon area at McMenaminâs venues since 2005, as the John Reynolds/George Turner duo. They debuted under the name The Dead Beetles in August 2006 at Edgefield Winery and their self-titled first CD was released the following November.

John Reynolds has worked in the studio with artists in many genres, both in Northern California and Portland, including Pele Juju, Zun Zun, Bossa Nouveau, Ukulele Dick, Vivid Curve and Scott Fisher.

His original music is featured in a documentary film, airing in major cities nationally on PBS in 2006, called Nuestra Familia (Our Family).

He has mixed concert sound for many international touring artists, including Ray Charles, Shawn Colvin, James Brown, Etta James, Stephanne Grapelli and Gladys Knight.

He hosted the Portland Songwriters Association monthly showcase at Mississippi Pizza for 2004-5.

George Turner is an accomplished musician, songwriter and sound engineer, bringing bass, cello and vocals to the Dead Beetles. He moved to Portland in 2004 from Austin, Texas where he had been playing in bands and studying audio engineering at Mediatech Institute.

He records and performs regularly in Portland and beyond with Amanda Richards, Sketchy Ted, and Aristeia.

Georgeâs original music appears in the feature film West Acre, to be released in 2006, for which he serves as Music Director.
