Who is Danny Quinn?
Danny Quinn is a man who loves his job. Starting with rock ân roll in his teens, progressing to Irish and American Folk music in his later years, His love for his work comes across in both his live performances as well as his recorded works.
Danny has been singing professionally since 1974 and has made his living as
a musician for the last twenty. After playing in some local bands in 1977, he formed
âThe Mighty Quinnâ along with his brother Tim Quinn. After five years with his brother, Danny joined a group called âStoutheartâ, which was an Irish Folk group sponsored by Guinness Stout.
Today, Danny performs as a solo artist at concerts, festivals, benefits, and coffee houses throughout the U.S. He is often joined by the multitalented Ronnie DâAddario and Bob Mastro and together they make up The Danny Quinn Band. Danny has toured the U.S. with the legendary Tommy Makem and appeared with Tommy on the CBS Morning Show and just recently with him at The Helen Hayes Theater. He has also appeared as an opening act for such performers as Tom Chapin, John Prine, The Wolftones, David Bromberg, The Persuasions, Aztec Two Step, Maura OâConnell, Robbie OâConnell, The Chieftains and many others. His live shows include Irish folk songs, songs by some of his favorite performers such as; Stan Rogers, David Mallet, Bill Staines and others. Danny has written over 100 songs and many of them are included in his shows. He has also been a frequent
guest of the Curtus and Kuby show on WABC radio in Manhattan.
âFor Family and Friendsâ is the name of Dannyâs first solo album and was released in 1984. In August of 1987, âOvernight Successâ, his second album, was released. His third album, âTime for Changeâ was released in 1989. âGifts From a Bardâ is a new album by The Danny Quinn Band which came out in early 1993. This all Irish album is dedicated to Tommy Makem and spotlights the musicianship and harmonizing ability of The Danny Quinn Band. Danny lives in Rockland County, New York. His latest band album is, âThe Gameâ, which showcases the writing and performance talents of Danny, Bob, and Ronnie.
Danny also tours the U.S. with Tom Gardner as part of the Uncle Brothers doing childrens music. They have recorded two cds together including âTwo Big Kidsâ and âJust Say Uncleâ. âTwo Big Kidsâ won the coveted Parents Choice award in the year â2000â.
