"I believe that Dr. Zooâs original material has (the) most commercial potential to achieve worldwide success", Marc Vincent, VP Sennheiser.
Dr. Zoo is singer/songwriter Randal Arsenault from Newfoundland, Canada, currently touring eastern US with New Jerseyâs Mikey G (fiddle/guitars/vocals), Patrick Bridge (bass/vocals) and Jeff Fernandes (drums/vocals). Dr. Zoo is funky folk rock and story, sort of Dispatch/Rusted Root meets Chris de Burgh.
Dr. Zooâs sophomore CD, titled â42â (released August 2006) contains 15 songs split into 6 Acts, which follow the story of a boy in search of the meaning of life. Over a 20 year period, the boyâs journey takes him from the shores of Newfoundland to Africa and back home again. Two singles from â42â, âI Wishâ and âWelcome to Africaâ are currently on radio in eastern Canada and Southern Africa. Dr. Zoo has been nominated 2006 SOCAN Songwriter of the Year by the Music Industry of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dr. Zooâs self titled debut album produced four singles which have received national and regional airplay in Canada and South Africa. Dr. Zoo has toured Canada, Japan, UK, Ireland, US, and South Africa, as well as showcasing at the JUNOS, Canadian Music Week, and East Coast Music Awards. Some of Dr. Zooâs early highlights include being a finalist in the 2003 National Songwriting Competition and being nominated Rock Artist of the Year by the 2003 Music Awards of Newfoundland. Dr. Zoo is sponsored by Sennheiser Canada.
