Details:
Don Wayne Perkins was born and grew up in Louisiana. His early years were spent in the woods, swamps, and on bayous and rivers in the fashion of his childhood hero, Jim Bowie. Don's grandfather was a real pioneer and he passed on his first hand knowledge of the old wild west days and how to survive off of the land. Movie star heroes included John Wayne, Errol Flynn, and Clarke Gable. Movie star women who were his first loves were Marilyn Monroe , Betty Page, and Bridgette Bardot. Sports heroes included Sonny Jurgensen, Jim Taylor, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, and Rocky Marciano. After finishing high school and two years of college, Don was drafted into the Army. He finished first in his training battalion out of five thousand men scoring expert in rifle, pistol, hand grenade, bayonet, hand to hand combat, and scored highest in written testing. Don was sent to Vietnam where he served in Psychological Operations, under the direction of the CIA. After returning from the war, he graduated from McNeese State University, with a degree in business. He got married during this period , had two sons, and became an insurance adjuster reaching the level of General Adjuster. During this time period his interests were duck hunting, shrimping, fishing, target shooting, and attending happy hours. Don opened his own adjusting company and after running the business for twelve years, he sold the business in 1992 and moved to Hawaii and lived in a condo on Waikiki Beach for over ten years. Don often performed at different functions that included night clubs, social groups, and charity organizations. There was a divorce in 2002. The past fifteen years have been spent mostly in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Miami, and Texas. In 2003 Don purchased a small condo in San Antonio, Texas, because San Antonio is a good central location and his sons, brother, and several friends live nearby in Austin, Texas. The oldest son is a computer expert, and the youngest son is a rock star (check out his web, www.reesemusic.com ). Most of Don's comedic influences are listed in the cover of his latest CD. He has dedicated his life to trying to make people laugh because it is his way of giving back for the happiness that life has given him. He enjoys a slightly sophisticated ,but modest and happy lifestyle, a dedicated / pretty girlfriend, and lives his life with the belief that everyday of life after Vietnam is gravy. God bless the ones who never got the chance to live out the rest of their lives.
