POP: Folky Pop, ROCK: Acoustic
Details:
Winter in Lexington captures Dawn and Jon midway through their hectic but successful senior year at The University of Dayton - a year that began with the duo opening up Eric Suttman's "Tuesday Night Jams" and ended with their band winning WUDR's (Dayton, OH) Battle of the Bands. The duo recorded this CD over a week in December with engineer Michael McKenney of Splice of Life Studios in Nicholasville, KY. Dawn and Jon, staying close to their roots, include many of their friends on the album, including Michael McKenney (bass), Suzanne Knollman (flute), Roger Dittert (guitar and rapping), and Donny Palmer (guitar), all of whom enhance the album with their individual talents and personalities. The group released the CD to a packed Sears Recital Hall on February 20, 2004 at a concert that featured the above players as well as Eric Suttman (bass) and Bobby Streng (saxophone). The release party, which turned out to be one of UD's musical events of the year, attests to the strength of the material and musicianship on this album.
"Jon Dittert and Dawn DeKrell are polished musicians with down to earth appeal. Their songwriting is fresh and of equal or better quality than most top 40 material." -- Lee Hoffman, Director of Vocal Studies at The University of Dayton
"Jon and Dawn are on the up and up. With precociously well-crafted songs and infectious hooks, these two are bound to revive the he-she duo days of pop music with musical talent to spare." -- Emily Strand, winner of WOXY's "Tri-State's Best Unsigned Band"
