February 15th, 2005 will be remembered as the first day that the present incarnation of Dive decided to strap on and make some noise.

The concept of the band Dive actually began three years earlier with Daniel; starting out as a hobby, the band was more or less an organized jam session with more nonsense going on than real music. The lineup went through many changes, until it almost fell apart in the fall of 2004. At the beginning of 2005, on January 1st, Daniel met with Richard through a mutual friend, and they hit it off both musically and personally. Fate would have it that they shared a common vision about music, bands and creativity. At this point, both Daniel and Richard got together with Michael, and then Jonathan, who were both in Dive pre-2005.

After a short five months stint with a lead singer who left the band, the band decided to split lead vocal chores between Richard and Daniel and started to work exclusively on their first studio album, Submerged. From composition to print, the album was produced between June 2005 and June 2006.

Daniel Tallent : Drums / vocals Born: July 1964 , San Francisco

Musical Background: Daniel initially started out wanting to play guitar but switched to drums when he joined the San Mateo High School Marching band at 15. For the next couple of years he was in an award winning Symphonic Concert band and learned how to read percussion music. After setting aside the sticks to go to Art School to begin a design career, he decided after a seven year hiatus to get back into playing with some bands. After singing backup for a short stint in Dive he slowly developed into one of the lead singers.

Richard St Pierre : Guitars / vocals Born: April 1966, Ottawa

Musical Background: Richard got the « music bug » at the age of 14, playing both drums and guitar. 12 years after he first picked up the guitar, Richard became the co-founder of his first « real » band, Open D. Since then,Richard as become a high school teacher and guidance counselor and has played in a variety of bands, leading him to his present role as lead guitarist and co-lead singer in Dive.

Michael O'Sullivan: Percussion / keyboards Born: December 1952, New York

Musical background: Michael grew up in a family of musicians and a drum playing father. His family home contained a baby grand piano, theater organ, violin, flutes, guitars and drums. The music ranged from classical to rock. At certain moments in the day there could be two rock bands and Mozart all playing at the same time in his home. Michael started playing drums at age 10, and at 14 he was in his first band. To create the percussion sound of Dive, Daniel and Michael combined a traditional drum kit with congas/bongos and a marching band bass drum.

Jonathan Hélie : Bass / Violin Born: October 1982

Musical background: Passionate about music, Jonathan started the violin at the age of six. After high school, he studied violin at the « Conservatoire de musique de Trois-Rivières ». Jonathan has played many concerts in Québec, Belgium and the United States, and was an active member for the « Mondial des Cultures », Drummondvilleâs main summer festival. His studies completed, he taught himself the bass guitar. He was a member of the « Violoneux de Drummondville », the « Joyeux Troubadours », the band « Sparkle » and since the spring of 2005 has renewed his role in « Dive ».
