FINALLY ALIVE is the debut solo release from Matthew Perry Hancock. After having recorded a Christian metal album entitled "Epic Opus" with the short-lived New Orleans band Broken, Hancock relocated to north Louisiana and began work on his solo album. In an attempt to reach a broader audience with the gospel of Christ and his own testimony, MPH started with the piano and acoustic guitar and built the new album around those instruments.

The recording process for Epic Opus was simply done on MPH's home studio 8-track, but he knew he needed to be in a real studio for this album to be as special as he wanted it to be, so he began to pray that God would put it on someone's heart to provide the finances to record in-studio. Five minutes after his first call to God, his friend Trenton Dick of AIR Recording offered to record his album at AIR for NO COST! It was evident from the start that God had a hand in this.

After three months of recording, MPH had an album that was very, very special indeed. The 11 songs featured on Finally Alive tell of how Christ brought MPH back from chasing the empty promises of the world and restored him to a right relationship with God.

"The purpose of this album is to give people hope and encouragement," Hancock states. "I want people all over the world to know that if God can love me and use me for His glory, He can love and use anyone...even you!"

As for the musical genres featured on the album, MPH relied on his instincts as well as his personal preferences for music. Having come from a background which only focused on heavier rock music, MPH toned down his sound and turned down the guitars a bit and focused more on melody and feeling. The result is an 11-song album that showcases a great deal of amazing orchestral arrangements, tender piano playing, very emotional vocals, and even some blazing in-your-face guitar work. After all, MPH says, "I couldn't forget the guitar!"

"There is something on this album for everyone, and more importantly, there is a message for everyone who listens to this album. I know where I've been and what God has brought me through, to this place where I finally feel alive in Him!"
