Down tempo beats and atmospheric keyboards meet trip-hop jazz inflected piano and sax mixed with electronica, with a bonus EP of electro synth-pop.
13 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Down Tempo, ELECTRONIC: Trip Hop
Details:
Munich Syndrome was born at an intersection where British & German Electronic-Pop, A Grade B Sci-fi movie and the D.I.Y. attitude of punk and new wave (and a little David Lynch) collided for a dazzling moment of "What if..."
A bedroom experiment that began with a couple of synthesizers, a drum machine and no expectations slowly gave way to more equipment (and for better or worse) some expectations.
Evolving over time from a starker, analog-synth driven sound into a richer and fuller sound where production and the studio came into more prominence.
Down-tempo beats and seductive dub-like bass lines underscore languid keyboard washes, jazz inflected pianos, sax and atmospheric electronica. Chill-out moods, cinematic soundscapes and warm melodies make up the essence of âSensual Ambienceâ. Inventive arrangements and unique combinations of sounds create a complex but accessible journey in sound.
âSensual Ambienceâ opens and closes with âFragment (of a dream)â, instrumental bookends that go from mysterious trip-hop to a more full-blooded electronica. Between those two points are the atmospheric and introspective âQuiet Atmosphereâ and âCathedral Interludeâ, the darkly sensual âLost In Youâ and âSensual Ambience (Paris Movie)â with the jazz influenced âA Night In Parisâ, âTo Whom It May Concernâ and the Enigma-esque âEndless Possibilitiesâ.
Included with the first pressings are four bonus tracks, the âElectro EPâ.
âRegretâ is the next step from âFragmentâ and sets the stage for the less atmospheric and harder electro-pop that comprise the âEPâ. âMurderousâ inhabits a more aggressive sound mixing a modern-day Kraftwerk sound with William Orbit type electronics in a club-friendly mix. âCome Out and Playâ is a Daft Punk-esque dance track utilizing a vocoded narrative. Closing out with âModern Ageâ, a tightly sequenced bassline and a dark mood and a bilistering guitar solo climaxing to an explosive finish.
