Details:
In the way a child calls for its mother or a seabound sailor yearns for home, so have the millions of frenzied fans called for The Munjoy Hill Society. Although these musicians have yet to be lavishly rewarded for their remarkable achievements, their commitment to audiences worldwide is unparalleled in this desperate age of speaking in tongues, piracy and electronic gobbledygook.

Hailing from high atop Portland, Maine's fashionable East End, The Munjoy Hill Society rose from the ashes of the now defunct uber-pop supergroup "Portland." Although short-lived, the band constructed the perfect foundation for what is today Southern Maine's premiere Latin lounge quartet, The Munjoy Hill Society.

From jazz to Afro-Cuban, from Shirley Bassey to Julie Andrews, these devotees of the rich tapestry of music have amalgamated a style and sound that is all their own.

The Munjoy Hill Society features the vivacious vocals of Frau Darien Brahms, who has been charming Portland audiences for years. Paul Chamberlain brings a certain sophistication, sense of fairness and rock solid moral compass to an otherwise vapid, debauched group of individuals. Chicky Stoltz, when not sitting behind the red sparkling trap kit spends his time calling bingo at church socials. John "Thump" Clark, who takes time off from The Munjoy Hill Society to play bass in the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, brings beer to almost every practice.

In July of 2000, The Munjoy Hill Society released its first album, "Bon Voyage," to a capacity crowd in Portland. The record has quickly gained heavy rotation at several small universities and photography studios. Dubbed "ironic" by Casco Bay Weekly and The Portland Phoenix, "Bon Voyage" will be available at a store near you pending a licensing dispute with mayoral candidate Chicky Stoltz over the misuse of his name on the album's cover. Until then, the record is available here at CD Baby. We hope you enjoy it, as it has been made for you.
