Doug Meseberg was born in Watertown, South Dakota and began his musical career at the tender age of seven when his parents started him with piano lessons. Although he learned the basic concepts of music playing the piano, it wasnât until the gift of a guitar from his grandfather at the age of ten that music began to shape his life. By his eleventh birthday he was playing with local bands at his familyâs Bar & Grill and at the age of twelve, together with the drumming talents of his sister Lorrie, formed the duo âThe Firefliesâ playing many of the local area establishments. At the age of fifteen Doug joined a house band called âDave and The Gentsâ which he played with evenings and weekends while going to school and working on both the family farm and at the familyâs Bar & Grill. When Doug was eighteen he began playing with another local house band called the âJan Arden Trioâ for the next three years until at the age of twenty-one, marriage and family life brought little thought or time for music. A few years later, divorced and his interest renewed in music, Doug formed his own band, âMirazhâ, and continued playing local area establishments and incorporating a few of his own original works. The demands of his talents and local popularity brought him the offer to join the âStorm Creek Bandâ, branching out to tour regionally playing various showcases and contests. While with the âStorm Creek Bandâ they won the South Dakota State Wrangler Talent Search Contest which took them to Nashville, Tennessee and the opportunity to fulfill the dream of playing at the 'Grand Ole Opry'.

Desiring to expand on his musical expertise and experiences, Doug moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1982 where over the next ten years he was exposed to and played with some of the best musical talents in the country. He played at many of Las Vegasâs casino and hotel Lounges and Shows; Tropicana, Frontier, Ballyâs, Aladin, Imperial Palace, Hacienda, Caesarâs Palace, El Rancho, Union Plaza, California Club, Samâs Town, Nevada Palace, Arizona Charlieâs and Skyline, just to name a few - - - He played with greats Jerry Lee Lewis, Al Hirt, Bobby Vinton, Hee Hawâs legendary steel player Curly Chalker, and opened for greats like Jim Glassier, Mel Tillis and Warren Zevon.

In 1992, Doug moved to the Seattle area with his new wife and continued playing with many of the areas local bands and continued to write music. With his fatherâs continuing illnesses and the advancing age of their child coupled with the desire to raise her in the country instead of the city, brought about the decision to bring his family home to South Dakota in 1995.

Upon his return to South Dakota, many area residents as well as friends and family, tried to entice Doug back into the music arena to no avail. It wasnât until his wife purchased him a Christmas gift of studio recording time and enlisted the aid of persuasion from a very close musician friend of theirs that Doug began to seriously concentrate on his songwriting talents.

âIâve played just about every Honky-Tonk and Casino from Florida to California and I have little desire to go on the road again, missing my family for long periods of time. You miss out on the little things in a childâs life when your not there. I donât want to be a songwriter that cranks out song after song just to fill up someoneâs catalog either,â says Doug. âI write music because it is what I hear in my head and feel in my heart and each song is a labor of love. A child I nurture, if you will. Iâm not sure thatâs good enough for some for me to just be me, in my own time and in my own way, but thatâs who I am. I believe my songs are good enough to be recorded by todayâs popular artists and thatâs the ultimate goal of my songwriting.â

âHuntinâ With My Dog & Other Love Songsâ was produced entirely by Doug Meseberg and the newly formed publishing corporation, Lazy Dream Ranch Enterprises, Incorporated, to commercially release the first twelve of the many originals Doug has written. The songs chosen for this CD were done so to include a variety of old country, new country, fun country, country rock and a touch of blue grass.

âIn producing this CD, I went from the stage as a performer into the recording studio and discovered a whole new world of the music industry that I rarely took notice of,â says Doug. âI learned a lot of new things. My family has always encouraged me to play and write music, but it wasnât until I began recording my own originals that I learned that this is what I love to do most. My only hope is that people find listening to my music as enjoyable as I did making it.â
