The male R&B soloist J. Red is a native of North
Carolina. Although R&B is his main course in music taste; J. Red also engages in hip hop production and artistry. Chuck Johnson, owner of WRSV 92.1 Jams says: âJ. At one point and time J. Red was a member of the R&B group Average Guyz. During his stay with the group, J. Red had the privilege of recording in a major studio âMaster Sound Studioâ located in Virginia Beach, Va. He also seized the opportunity to record with artist such as Missy Elliot, Chad Hugo of the world famous âNeptunesâ, and Big Bub. The unforgettable knowledge of studio engineering, production and songwriting enabled him to start his own production
company âSoul Mop Music Group, Inc.â and Record Company âCulture South Recordsâ.
J. Redâs single âIn Your Dreamâ was rated song #35 out of the top 50 songs for the year 2005 in the UK at www.soulsorts.com beating out Mary J. Blige, Usher, Jeffery Osbourn and Earth Wind and Fire. The tune also made it to #11 in the UK on the Hip List at www.bluesandsoul.com and is currently in heavy rotation in the UK.
