Biography
Background
The group was founded in Terrace, B.C., Canada and officially formed in October 2004. Melody Park is a female fronted band consisting of five musicians who have been playing music in various settings and projects throughout Canada and abroad.
The music is groove based eclectic rock and pop that transcends all age groups and musical tastes. The songs are filled with catchy choruses and melody, while the rhythms portray elements of funk, punk, and jazz. The live show will introduce new energy and momentum to the songs for any audience to have a memorable and exciting experience.
In early October 2004 the members of Melody Park came together to experiment with their material and ideas that had yet to be developed. Locked away in a basement rehearsal studio, the band worked every night on songs and a natural writing chemistry began to flourish. Before long the group had over 40 songs to their repertoire that
traverse many musical styles. Six months after forming the project, Melody Park began to record and produce the album at Greenhouse Studios with engineer Brandon Cherrington and producer Jay Evjen, emerging with their 11 song debut CD.
Achievements
On December 12th, 2005 the group received the packaged CD and their website came online. Total sales of the CD from promotions, retail stores, and regional concerts topped the 500 units sold by 02/28/2006.
Melody Park has been receiving airplay on "The Mix", part of the BC North Standard Radio network. A regional tour of Terrace, Kitimat, and Prince Rupert has been presented by Standard Radio and all shows have donated $5 of each ticket to Secondary School Music Programs in the respective city.
Melody Park is busy organizing a national tour supporting their CD.
