Details:
The Metrolites are quite possibly the best surf, spy, lounge, noir, spaghetti western, exotica, cocktail band ever to emerge from Iowa. A bold statement, yes, but with their newest release, "For The People," they solidify their reputation as the band that makes diverse, haunting, quirky, raucous soundtracks for movies that don't exist -- or at least, not yet.

The Metrolites have outdone themselves with the intricate instrumentation and turn-on-a-dime genres of "For The People." The songs range from the sultry latin jazz of "Banana Republique" to the Tin Pan Alley rag "Old Fascist Gal." The hot rod bossa nova "Giant Hula Monster" bumps up nicely with the raunchy stipper grind of "Agent Orange Gets His Groove Back." The blazing Eastern Bloc surf of "UFO vs. KGB" gives way to the jungle exotica of "Cocktails on the Planet of the Apes."

The musical dexterity of Metrolites is complimented by their smart, pop-culture sense of humor -- resulting in an album as much tounge-in-cheek as it is moody. "For The People" is the perfect addition to any hepcat, tiki, cocktail lifestyle.

The Metrolites are:
Josh Duffee - drums, percussion, Electrolux typewriter
Kathleen Gallagher - electric and acoustic guitars, plectrum banjo, backing vocals
Devin Kirby-Hansen - bass, backing vocals
Scott Morschhauser - MalletKat, TrapKat, piano, vibraphone, marimba, Theremin, lead vocals
Nervous Neal Smith - alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, bass clarinet, flute
