During the Apartheid era and the great folk scare of the 60s, South Africans picked right up on the folk music phenomenon, and many talents sprang up virtually overnight.

Due to the international boycott of most things South African, cultural or otherwise, many talents remained unknown to the world at large ... Mel, Mel and Julian were among those performers.

Quickly rising to prominence, Mel, Mel & Julian were well-known as a dynamic and entertaining trio, and were admired for their marathon folk music performances and hilarious comedy interludes. Their recordings have been long out of print and this is their first CD of purely traditional folk music.
