Review:
Taxi Review of Debut Single "HYPRHYTHMIC"
Taxi - August 15, 2006

"I love having to critique songs like this. It has a unique twist to it. All tho it can somewhat remind one of an artist like R Kelly or Sisqo, the beats are a little more rugged and street then what they were doing. Meech voice is great, and he knows how to keep a good tone. The chorus for the song is strong and vocally Meech is great. Production wise the song is great.

Keep the good music coming"

The melody had good music in verses, and in choruses. The structure is well written and has good sectional contrast. The lyrics are cohesive; exhibit a good use of imagery; communicates emotion to listerner, and the vocal does help to sell the song.

Meech "definitely knows when to bring hook/chorus in."

While HYPRHYTHMIC blazes on the cutting edge of the hottest in urban music today, Meech Cannon also pulls personal influence from the early legends of soul. His club bangers will leave DJs and their patrons thoroughly satisfied and his slow jams will have women screaming for more.

Born in Chicago, Meech came from musical parents, blues artists who were popular in the South and toured extensively until they settled down to raise nine children. This environment provided the emotional and artistic spark which galvanized Meech with the drive and talent he would later unleash within his own career. With looks to match his vocal chops, he has even landed film roles in The Fugitive and Save the Last Dance, quite an accolade for an up-and-coming R&B artist. Clearly, Meech's talents are broad and far-reaching.

As VP of his own Houston-based record label, Meech Cannon now stands ready to conquer the world of hip-hop savvy R&B charts with the release of HYPRHYTHMIC. If you haven't found the time to check out this monster release, it is certain to hunt you down on its own terms! The future of soul is in the hizzy and his name is Meech Cannon.

It's in the name, it's in the lyrics, & it's in his SOUL. Meech Cannon expresses his pure essence in the title song of his debut album, âHYPRHYTHMICâ when he says, âIâm bringin thunder, cannons and shhhh, huhâ He is the Cannon, the lyrical base used to discharge the projectile of the smooth raspiness in his voice that flows like a current of lightening into the atmosphere. So buckle up as OMNY Records unleashes Meech Cannon.

Influenced by the likes of many R&B and Hip Hop artists, both old and new, he creates his own style by fusing together the smoothness of R&B, and the depths of Soul pulverized in Hip Hop, better known as âHYPRHYTMICâ. His character displays the multifaceted style of his artistry. He sings R&B, he sings Soul, he sings Hip Hop, he raps and he croons. His style is unique in that he has found a way to incorporate the many dimensions of his soul through his lyrics in HYRHYTHMIC. This is his genre of music. It fills his soul and allows him to display the depths and totality of his talent. It shows the sexy, and sensual, the sensitive and debonair and, the playful, rough edge of Meech Cannon. HYRHYTHMIC blends all the many faces of Meech into one. His charismatic presence is guaranteed to touch your soul.

Meech describes HYPRHYTHMIC (Hip rea da mick) as âthe smooth sound of R&B with a twist of Hip Hop. It's that sound that draws you to the beat, and the rhythm that makes you wanna shake a tale feather, with a heart stopping 808 bass, sensual R&B flows and eight bars spitting, hitting, you know the restâ¦â The song HYPRYTHMIC is an up-tempo club banger about the unity among entertainers geographically. âItâs about showing love", says Meech. He embraces his feel and love for music in the song titled Soul, It speaks about the universal language of music. To Meech, Soul is universal, because there is no discrimination in the feel of music, âits all one loveâ. One of his favorite R&B songs is Iâm in Love. Ask Meech what he wants people to hear when they listen to Iâm in Love. He answers, âitâs truly an honor to be in love and find that someone who fills your life. In the end it's what everyone is looking forâ. Meech wrote a song for his mother Rosemary, who died while his was working on his project. He wrote the song to show the love and appreciation for his mom. He wanted a legacy to show that her love would never be forgotten. He dedicated his album in her honor. Propaganda is more than just a song to vibe on. It speaks on world issues today. The lyrically honest views uninhibited by the influences of society are filled with Meechâs view of the current state of the world, which he isnât afraid to share. Pure sensuality and sexy appeal are wrapped into the lyrics and feel of Get Down, Ride, and Ooh Baby. These songs are entertaining at best. His sensitivity can be heard in songs like Infidelity and Try Love Again. The songs speak of the many challenges of relationships. His playful, rough edge can be heard in Hellah Crackin, Hot, and Buck Wyle. These tracks are destined to get the party started. Full of 808âs, hot beats and dynamic lyrics, they are sure to make a mark in the entertainment world.

His album has âsomething for everyoneâ. There are songs for the young, old and in between. Listeners can feel the crunk of Lil Jon, the charisma of Marvin Gaye and Ronnie Isley, and old school crooning of the Delfonics. The album has sixteen songs that you must hear for yourself. Meech wrote and arranged all the songs on the album. As an entertainer, he is phenomenal.

The stage is his home. Meech performed live on stage for the first time at the age of 8. Every Sunday he and his father attended a festival on the Westside of Chicago. He remembers his father asking someone on stage to let him sing because his father recognized his talent at a young age. Meech was allowed to sing, and swept the audience off their feet singing Down Home Blues, by ZZ Hill. Meech remembers being very excited, and loving the applause of the audience.

He started his musical journey singing and performing in the living room of his Westside apartment singing with his family. Since both of his parents were entertainers, singing and performing was commonplace and home for Meech. Meech remembers loving to sing and dance at the age of seven. He loved entertaining people. He often visualized a lot of people applauding for him, and he loved it. At a young age, he knew that entertaining was his destiny. As a child, Meech had a vision of himself as a man dressed in white performing before a large crowd. At the age of eight, he and sister a performed as Peaches and Herb, constructed by my uncle, who got his hustle on by taking them on the street to perform for money. They never received much money, but Meech accredits this experience to shaping his destiny. Most of his family members were musically inclined. They often performed at home, and at family functions. His mother and father were popular blues singer in the south, but curtailed their career to raise a family. In a sense they never lost their dream, it continued in their children. It was his mother that managed their first group. She wrote their bios, and provided coaching. Basically she fashioned their music ability and talents, along with providing a great deal of love and support. By the time Meech was thirteen, he and his two younger brothers started a group by the name of Last of Nine. They were the last of nine children born to his parents, Willie and Rosemary Cannon. One of his oldest brothers would get them up early in the morning to practice singing, particularly, their harmony. They took music very serious at Meechâs house. He and his brothers got local airplay and performed at venues throughout the Midwest. They often ran into obstacles. In some cases, recording companies wanted to change their sound; did not want to take the whole group; or the environment was not positive. The group struggled until lifeâs demands changed their focus.

The same demand that dismantled the group with his brothers allowed Meech to step out into his own destiny. It created the determination that launched his solo career. Meech launched a solo career because singing remained his focus and had an innate demand on his life. As a solo artist for the first time, he began to network and meet producers that could feel his sound. Meech says that it was during this transitional period when he began to rediscover himself. He performed anywhere he could just to be heard. He performed at open mics and local venues. He did collaborations and featured on albums with well-known artists in the Chicago area. December 1, 1996, Meech made his first television appearance singing for âWorld Aids Dayâ, One World, One Hope, in Chicago, Illinois. In 1997, he appeared on âElmer and Companyâ for a local Chicago Cable Network. He launched an acting career with two screen appearances in two major motion films; the âFugitiveâ and âSave the Last Danceâ. This is a passion that he holds dear. Meech states, âI had people coming at me, but I had something that I was searching for, that just wasnât there. I decided to do my own album, but really didnât know what to do with it, nor did I have the funds to execute a plan. Then I met a friend foretold who showed me how to execute a plan and provided the support and foundation that brings me here today. So here I am, as I step into my silhouette, my destiny â Bringin IT.â He further states, âI pray that God sheds His blessing on my endeavor â for I believe I am walking into my destinyâ.
