THIRTY-EIGHT HARES is Melanie Wayâs sonic timeline of a superseismic summer. It's a lo-fi alternative experimental album combining multi-layered mini songs created on a Boss RC-20 Phrase Recorder Loop Station (Way plays all the instruments), with field recordings recorded on a RadioShack mono cassette recorder. It's the tripped-out direct result of minimal unemployment checks, the breakup of her band The Loosies, a see-saw relationship, a Brooklyn neighborhood grating on her nerves, magical escapes to the enchanted forests of the Berkshires and Catskills, and many other events of the summer. This is her debut solo album.
Melanie Way lives in Brooklyn, New York and plays bass guitar with Lorraine Leckie and Her Demons. Want some more vague information and pictures? Go to www.myspace.com/melanieway and www.lorraineleckie.com. E-mails are welcome at melaniewayout@yahoo.com.
