Three road weary souls face the bleak prospect of a long drive under a gun metal grey sky; the tell-tale signs of late nights and successful shows imprinted in their eyes like tiny maps with bloodshot roads to who knows where.
Conversation has long since dried up after the requisite, âGood show last nightâ and âAnyone got any Tylenol?â
Minutes stretch to breaking point as the van creeps westward leaving Ottawa behind and slowly closing in on loved ones missed.
Thoughts turn to future gigs and the slow progress on a record mostly unwritten.
At around this point we see it for the first time: an overpass adorned with Canadian flags, people with homemade signs and assorted servicemen standing ⦠waiting.
With each successive bridge there are more people. More flags. More signs.
We realize that we are sharing this journey westward â this journey home â and for some it is their last.
Silence continues in the van â but now it is reverential.
The problems of a few minutes earlier are forgotten and replaced with different thoughts.
Pride. Love. Duty.
John says, âWe should write a song about this.â
And we did â and then another song came ⦠and then another.
Resulting in what you now hold in your hands.
Sometimes it takes something powerful to remind you of the beauty in the things you take for granted everyday.
In that spirit we dedicate this record to all of the brave souls who put their lives on the line to allow us this luxury.

The MacNificentâs have been performing on the Celtic Music Scene for the last few years! Collectively they have played on stages and in Festivals right across Canada and The United States, as The MacNificents features members formerly of groups such as The Gurriers, The Caution Donkeyâs, The Ashgrove, and Clandeboye Bound.
