Scott Avery is one of my favorite writers. I can always tell who my favorite writers are when I wish I had written one of their songs. Well, how about 12 of them? The Dean Madonia Band has recorded this homage to Scott's talent.

A tribute to the writing of friend and fellow song-writer, Scott Avery.
I really enjoyed making this CD for many reasons. First, I did not write the material and I was only thinking of the songs, the sound and the pace of the CD. When I work on my own music, I sometimes get too caught up in production for the wrong reasons and I worry little things that don't always mean too much.
Second, I love the songs. Scott Avery is a great writer. He is also a wonderful performer and a good friend. His shows are very entertaining and lively and include some jokes and occasional dancing! Scott does not usually show his angry, moody side to his fans (or anyone), though I have seen a little of it. He and I had been kicking around the idea of me recording some of his music for some years and I agreed to do it if he promised me two things:
Rule # 1.
I wanted Scott's darkest material, no happy-go-lucky, goofy stuff. Not too happy, AND it had to rock. I got all of the Scott-as-the-sad-clown songs, and they are great!
Rule #2.
No input from Scott after he sent the work-tape to me. I was going to do my interpretation of his music MY way. Yes, I am a control freak, but if Scott wanted to make this CD his way, he could have done it easily. Scott is a great guitar player and has access to some class-A Miami area musicians. He could have made that kind of CD anytime.
I did this CD the way I felt it, with some valuable input from the band and extra effort from Val who charted out all of the songs. I am extremely happy with this release and I think that the people who like my music will love this and want to hear more from Scott Avery.
This CD could not have been made without the generous help of the Dean Madonia Band (Nashville):
Val (Evans) Lupescu - guitar
Travis Vance - Bass
Mike Walter - drums.
I tracked the band live at the "Soft Monkey Studio" in Nashville and added my vocals and keys later on.
Reviewers on garageband.com have compared Dean to: Better Than Ezra, Spacehog, Robbie Williams, pearl Jam, Incubus, Paul Rogers and Fleetwood Mac.

ONE NIGHT IN AMERICA
Artist: Madness & Desire
There are twelve songs on this new CD from Dean Madonia and madness & Desire penned by Scott Avery. This soft rock album will remind you at times of Cat Stevens with its ryyhmic storytelling vocals that come from the soul. But you will also hear other influences that carry you along into the theme of the album. Produced by Dean Madonia for Soft Monkey Music, the CD offers excellent instrumentation as well as superb arrangements. A toke or two won't hurt what you hear either. Look for it at record stores or at www.deanmadonia.com on the web.
