First generation Harlem born American soul and jazz singer from a Cherokee and Montserrat lineage, Sharon L. West was an executive A&R professional in the music business who now has been pursuing artistry as a professional musician, singer and music producer for the past few years while attending college as a Communication Arts major. Soft Moments is the name of her first CD release with limited hard copies available beginning August 2011. The CD is pegged to become a collector's item since it includes one-shot recordings of her 8-octave voice with world renown jazz musicians such as James Weidman and four originals written and played by her. Soft Moments also introduces her production skills as an engineer.

Her delivery is sultry, warm, effective and playful as she hits highs and lows vocally with emotion and unique renditions of standards. Her heartfelt untrained vibrato sound is reminiscent of the rare talents and singing of recording stars such as Adele, Randy Crawford, Nina Simone, Sade and Minnie Riperton. Musically, she recently trained with master songwriter and professor Andy Warshaw who currently is writing a six hour African Jewish opera as he continues to train some of the best Communication Arts graduates in the country and audition aspiring songwriters for his Master songwriter classes such as the master class she was accepted.

The humble soft spoken Ms. West has a stage presentation considered captivating as she engages audience members though her unique technique of interpreting lyric and composition by drawing sound from both the floor and walls; a skill used by female jazz legends who had the benefit of specially designed halls to utilize the effect that helps catapult the spirit of live music to listeners. Her onstage live performances includes shows at both New York's Algonquin Hotel and Apollo Theatre, as well as, private events and various upscale venues mostly throughout the Tri-state area. Her most recent community based venture has been in helping build a program at a cultural center to help guide young adults with pursuant in communication skills, stage and production talent.

*Included on tracks 1-4, 9, 11-13 on this CD are musicians James Weidman on piano, Gaku Takanashi on bass and John Cooksey on drums. Russell Booker produced and plays all instruments on track 10 and the house version. All musicianship on tracks 5-8 is by the artist.
