Mandee's soothing piano melodies, sultry voice, and intellectual lyrics create her unique blend of Folk, New Age, and S/S that she likes to call "Elizabethan Pop".
16 MP3 Songs
EASY LISTENING: Soft Rock, POP: Piano
Details:
Mandee writes soothing piano tunes that are the perfect backdrop for her naturally lovely voice. On her self-produced debut, "Seasonings", she sings of the cycles of love and friendship, peppered with her introspective and sometimes wry lyrics. Stark arrangements blend her pastoral poetry and bittersweet melodies that recall the styles of George Winston, Tori Amos and Carole King, but take the listener on Mandee's own journey through the seasons of the year. Although self-labeled as "Elizabethan Pop", Seasonings explores genres from gentle ballads to ragtime fluff; from slow, jazzy grooves to folky singer/songwriter; from a rousing harpsichord instrumental to a waltz.. and all with Mandee's own unique stamp.
From Mandee's website:
I have been playing piano and singing since before I was even old enough to reach the keys. I grew up in a very musical home; my grandmother is a professional organist and my mother played in a gospel band, The Glorybound Singers, throughout my childhood. Musical theatre was my pastime of choice in school, playing roles as diverse as Annie, The Witch in "Into the Woods" and originating the role of Vita Sackville West in "Aphra, Where Have You Behn?" Lately, I've been on the other side of the curtain, composing original music for plays such as "Peter Pan" and "Twelfth Night".
After graduating from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland with a B.A. in Art History, I moved to West Virginia and began seriously songwriting. Now I'm back in my homestate of Maryland, and happy to be given the opportunity to dedicate my life to the craft of the singer/songwriter.
