"From Moment To Moment" is my first CD. I wrote the songs between 1990 and 2010. The songs reflect the growth process that I went through during those years, a process that continues into the present.
The cover picture represents the moment in which my name took on a deeper meaning for me. In Hebrew Amir means treetop and is the part of the tree that is the most exposed to the elements, the part that is always new and always growing. The theme of treetop shows up in a few of the songs on the disc. I encountered the tree in the picture while meditating during a weekend retreat in Mount Shasta, California. A feeling of connection with the tree washed over me. That was the first time I thanked my mother fully, and it was for the name she gave me.
At about the same time, a friend performed a shamanic healing for me. During the healing, she suddenly stopped to announce that she had received a spiritual name for me: EARTHEART. I sat with this name for one year before I felt ready to share it. I now use it as the logo on top of the tree in the cover picture.

A few years back I heard the song âSomething So Rightâ by Paul Simon. The words âThey've got a wall in China it's a thousand miles long to keep out the foreigners they made it strongâ made me feel sad. It inspired me to write about a place inside the heart. I begin the song by filling this place with good things such as love and gratitude. I then speak about the seed that grows into food and fills our bodies with love. After each of these two parts, I sing about hearing a prayer being sent to our world, and I conclude this with hearing a prayer being sent from our world. The song, thus, reflects my belief that we are all co-creators.

This song is inspired by a spring in Mount Shasta where the water comes right out of the ground. Sacred ceremonies take place there, and there is a constant flow of people filling up bottles. It is the headwaters of the Sacramento River which spills out into the sea. I sing about where it comes from and how it widens from the beginning to the beginning. I parallel this with where we come from and how my heart grows more loving from the beginning to the beginning.

I like sometimes to say that it is less likely to get into the egg than to win the lottery. And so we are all very lucky to be alive. This song came to me a couple of years before I got together with my wife. I had been alone for what felt like a long time. I was thinking about how improbable it was to be with a soul mate when the combinations of so many other relationships that are not romantic exist. So I wrote a story/song about a tree (not a treetop) that does not know he is not quite ready for a relationship yet. He wants, however, to feel all the sweetness and intensity of the pain that come with a relationship. Because he is not ready, he gets to experience the feelings but without the relationship. After many lifetimes the combination aligns and the soul mate arrives.

This song speaks about an experience I sometimes have when I spend evenings in nature. Moths land on my lips when I pray. When they take off it feels as if they are prayer-carriers. This song also speaks about a guided meditation I participated in. I was guided to imagine a world I would like to live in. I imagined a world without trauma, abuse, war, and hunger. A world where therapists will council through normal life transitions like births, deaths⦠A big theme in this song is that things do not have to be the way they are, that there are other ways to live. The Middle East is now going through an interesting process of transformation and we do not know where it will lead. This song is a prayer for us to align with the wise consciousness that is ever present.
