Catchy enough to sing along to, but interesting enough for a second listen. Marking Twain is young, driven, and talented.
10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Funk Rock, POP: Today's Top 40
Details:
Success breeds success, at least thatâs the idea behind Marking Twain. If you begin with talented, experienced, and driven musicians, the combination can only lead to more success. The band formed in late 2004 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a college town just north of Cincinnati. Drummer Jesse Feister, guitarist Chris Hellmann, and vocalist Scott Salmon found themselves ready to put a band together dedicated to success. At the young ages of 19 and 20, these three already had the experience of performing alongside national acts Jason Mraz, John Mayer, O.A.R., Blessid Union of Souls, Howie Day, and Edwin McCain, and they were ready to finally cash in on the full potential of their musicianship and knowledge. They took a year off from performing to write, demo and record their debut record, âThe Identity Slipâ. During the process, they recruited fellow Miami students Drew Butcher (keys and guitar) and Ben Kubicki (bass). By mid-2005 as they put the finishing touches on their record, the band began to play out to an already strong Midwest college fan base.
Sounding somewhere in between Maroon 5 and Incubus, Marking Twain is funk-based pop/rock. In a few short months of performing, the group has already played shows across the Midwest and scored opening slots for national acts Ingram Hill and Better Than Ezra. With their debut record â The Identity Slipâ slated for release in early December of 2005, one can only expect more success from this young motivated group.
